Lithium might reduce the risk of dementia
A massive congratulations to Dr Shanquan Chen, Dr Rudolf Cardinal and colleagues at Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust for their latest publication:
Association between lithium use and the incidence of dementia and its subtypes: A retrospective cohort study
This is not a PLRH-related study, but it did arise from earlier work we did with Rudolf and Shanquan on a patient-led research question (long-term lithium use as a mood stabliser and kidney health). Rudolf’s team have now involved our patient group across multiple projects and co-author were possible. It’s so rewarding to see the ripple effect of good co-production!
